A Picture of Murder

Sitting down with the latest instalment of the Lady Hardcastle cozy mystery series by T. E. Kinsey is like visiting with old friends.

There’s been a fire in the kitchen at The Grange, the home of their neighbour, Lady Farley-Stroud. The calamity has made it impossible to play host to a theatrical troupe of moving picture, The Witch’s Downfall, to be shown in the village of Littleton Cotterell for Halloween. Lady Hardcastle and her trusted lady’s maid Florence have offered to host the colourful cast of actors of the spooky moving picture. It isn’t long before things take a macabre turn when one by one the actors begin turning up dead in ways that eerily echo their film.

The characters are well crafted, scenes vividly drawn and the plot always gripping. You won’t want to put this one down and you won’t want it to end. T E Kinsey never disappoints. I highly recommend this rollicking tale of two unlikely heroines.
